Sustainability
As an adhesive manufacturer, ITW TACC has a commitment to promoting sustainability. We continue best practices of recycling, both with paper in our offices and with corrugated cardboard in our manufacturing facilities. We encourage energy use reduction through machinery shutdown, the installation of digital thermostats, and dock bay insulation.
ITW TACC has developed a program with our distributors whereby empty canisters are collected and are either sent to a reclamation facility for cleaning and refill, or are sent to a steel recycler for shredding. The shredded material then goes to a foundry for re-melting and re-use. We are very proud of the fact that in 2008 we recycled 7930 one-use canisters, and in 2009 we recycled 7096 one-use canisters.
ITW TACC is aware of the importance of developing products that are environmentally friendly, particularly with the new regulations for lower VOC products. We utilize sustainable resources as components of many of our adhesives. Twenty five of our adhesives and sealants contribute to points on LEED projects. (LEED FAQs) Nineteen of our adhesives and sealants qualify for GREENGUARD Certification (GREENGUARD FAQs).
ITW TACC is also a shipping partner with EPA SmartWay Transport program. SmartWay encourages both shippers and transportation companies to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to improve fuel efficiency.
